{"id":6357,"date":"2012-05-17T18:13:25","date_gmt":"2012-05-17T18:13:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mrsokana.wordpress.com\/2012\/05\/17\/guest-editor-national-post-afterword-feeling-tired-2\/"},"modified":"2012-05-17T18:13:25","modified_gmt":"2012-05-17T18:13:25","slug":"guest-editor-national-post-afterword-feeling-tired-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/anakanaschofield.com\/website_66900629\/2012\/05\/17\/guest-editor-national-post-afterword-feeling-tired-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Guest Editor National Post Afterword: Feeling Tired"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>All this week I have been guest editing <em>Afterword<\/em> the National Post book blog.<\/p>\n<p>My first piece published on Monday was titled Feeling Tired: (click on the extract to read the entire piece)<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/arts.nationalpost.com\/2012\/05\/14\/anakana-schofield-feeling-tired\/\">When I re-read my novel <em>Malarky<\/em> I see that for all the sex and sadness in it, it really is a personal plea to be better at baking and to feel less tired.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/arts.nationalpost.com\/2012\/05\/14\/anakana-schofield-feeling-tired\/\">The main character in <em>Malarky<\/em> \u2014 \u201cOur Woman\u201d \u2014 does not feel as tired as I do. She is a great deal perkier. If I try to think of a novel with a character as tired as I feel, I draw a blank. The best I can come up with is Laura Hillenbrand\u2019s incredible <em>New Yorker<\/em> essay depicting her life with chronic fatigue.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/arts.nationalpost.com\/2012\/05\/14\/anakana-schofield-feeling-tired\/\">Tiredness is a strange old mist. So is sleep deprivation. Even more puzzling is insomnia, given it strikes when you are, well, already tired.<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>All this week I have been guest editing Afterword the National Post book blog.
