I hope the Castlebar Library in Co Mayo will be stocking a copy of Malarky.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><a href=\"http:\/\/arts.nationalpost.com\/2012\/05\/04\/book-review-malarky-by-anakana-schofield\/#more-72139\">&#8220;Being plagued by hiccups while incarcerated at the psych ward of Castlebar hospital in northwest Ireland is just one of the many troubles of Phil (a.k.a. Philomena, Our Woman, and Kathleen), the distraught woman-on-the-verge at the centre of <em>Malarky<\/em>,<strong> a delightfully offbeat<\/strong> debut novel by Vancouver\u2019s Anakana Schofield.<\/a>&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Facing betrayal and bursts of chaotic libido from husband and child alike, Our Woman, by turns livid, raging, helpless, frustrated and confused (\u201cconfused being the polite local term for possessed\u201d), seeks vengeance against an indifferent, philandering husband.
