{"id":10556,"date":"2013-03-30T06:08:38","date_gmt":"2013-03-30T06:08:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/anakanaschofield.com\/?p=10556"},"modified":"2013-03-30T06:08:38","modified_gmt":"2013-03-30T06:08:38","slug":"de-ludy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/anakanaschofield.com\/website_66900629\/2013\/03\/30\/de-ludy\/","title":{"rendered":"De-ludy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In the realm of active delusion, very little beats the kind of language and artifice employed in Vancouver real estate condo names and on bilboards advertising the life that awaits, inside, between those\u00a0light switches\u00a0 Tonight, on an adventure up Kingsway I noted one of the most ridiculous ones I&#8217;ve seen since that nutty billboard that promised its occupants would live in &#8220;the highest point on Main Street&#8221; (Main St is hardly Mt <em>Kilimanjaro<\/em>\u00a0of heights) &#8230; Today I actively groaned at the stupidity of &#8220;Corum: where worlds converge.&#8221; or perhaps I misremember the spelling, but I read it as the word quorum meaning sufficient people to vote.<\/p>\n<p>I offer in response: Ghost Estate! \u00a0Service drought! Pop up &#8211; mash down housing!<\/p>\n<p>I recall the rush to occupy that occurred in Ireland during the boom, especially in Dublin, and the intense condification that took place there. This idea that if you didn&#8217;t hurl yourself at the train, you had no hope of a seat. Now the train is full of seats and there&#8217;s little chance, maybe, of getting off it. Well you can get off alright, if you surrender your keys.
