Another fog forecast this night, with an overnight low of 6 degrees, which I think it our lowest nighttime low so far this season.

In other news: The Greenhouse contraption is thriving, sort of. There are cucumbers in there, sort of. And each day a new bean greets me. It’s dotey my little contraption and has been happy with the recent light. Mad cap projects on a whim highly advised!

The leaves on the streets are so delightful this week, they being of the dry variety, rather than the treacle they turn into when it rains.

This years Farmer’s 2011 Almanac — hot off the shelf here — predicts that the Nov -March period will be colder in BC, with higher than normal snowfall.

In contrast snowfall will be below normal in the Maritime provinces.

Thus we shall be expecting shipments of unused thermals and legwarmers, from distant, warmer than usual, friends.

Thanks to the insights of the wool wearing Madame Julie, I have learned that the reason multiple cardigans are not improving my temperatures (3 identical cardigans at last count) is because said cardigans are made of cotten, silk and something, and are by her definition Spring cardigans!

I have to exercise restraint in the matter of acquiring a fourth identical pointless cardigan. I find such comfort when clothing is identical. Perhaps it is all those years of wearing a school uniform, or some other neurological reasoning, like not actually having to take up any brain space making a decision about what is to be worn, ever. A tic, I accept it’s a tic.

The weather continues to heap its wrath upon Bella Coola valley. A local state of emergency has again been declared because of impending heavy rain.

I have been watching what’s happening with the various weather systems that have been hitting the area in recent weeks,  by looking at the radar and so on. But disatisfied with my inability to clearly read the data, decided to follow the advice of a former fisherman and checked out the maritime (sea) forecast. It said waves would measure 3 metres high. I wonder if there is a recorded shipping news for this Coast that one can listen to?

It perplexes me that so little attention is given to atrocious weather events in other parts of the province (ditto the fires this summer), but I suppose the goegraphic distance is a factor, I’ll chose to believe that over disinterest.

I am molto perplexed by the current weather system. This in part because for the first stretch of it I was in Victoria and following what was happening up on the North of Vancouver Island. I have yet to entirely understand which way the system has gone since. I thought I was reckoning on it, and then today — what the heck ? Somehow someone turned on the sunshine. Er? I am still dipped in the green indicators on the map of epic precipitation.

See the weather requires adept daily study. You cannot assume you’ve got your eye on it, you literally need to be necking with a barometer three times a day. I am dissatisfied with my level of study. Plus things remain dubious on the swimming front.  But I was watching a most uplifting sight! A bunch of women over 60+ who swim each day in some frosty coastal spot in Ireland. And only an ordinary swimsuit on them! Mna na h’E appear to be furlined against the deep freeze. There’s me with my swimming jumper heading into the indoor pool. I even wear it in the hot tub.  Clearly I need new feathers.

Winter is here, I can already feeling myself craving nerdy cardigans. Odd since the sun was bouncing off the pavement today. I have an autistic relationship to clothing. I only want to wear the same items. My partner observed this recently when stowing my laundry — stowing not folding. Folding is not a task I’d entrust to anyone. I find folding laundry very pleasing. I just have no desire to do anything beyond folding it into a stack. Hence his generous intervention.

“Oh my God,” he exclaims. “I just couldn’t believe it there were like twenty identical shirts, twenty cardigans and so on.” He exaggerates there is maybe 7 of each. I like doing laundry too much to ever require twenty of anything. Except books, shelves, raisins and easy anchors.

I had to remind him that the impressive items of clothing I own have been purchased for me by him and his mother.

There is a particular black cardigan, longer with grandad pockets that may be joining my x7 fashion line up. I have 2, both donations, but with the wintery feelings may have to embrace a third.
